"Game of Thrones" Fans Embrace the New NFT Experience

Game of Thrones (GoT), is the popular fantasy television series adapted from George R. R. Martin’s series of novels "A Song of Ice and Fire." The television series’ first NFTs were released on January 10, 2023. The "Game of Thrones: Build Your Realm Hero Box" NFT collection was sold out on the Niftys.com market in about seven hours on Tuesday afternoon (EST). The pre-sale of the collection was approximately 3,450 hero boxes, and 1,500 hero boxes were sold to the public post-pre-sale.

Each box contains story card non-fungible tokens (NFTs), resource card collectibles, and a "Game of Thrones" (GoT) Hero Avatar NFT. The secondary market action was noticed on OpenSea, as Hero Boxes and Hero Avatars were sold for Ethereum (ETH). "The Game of Thrones experience has been a long time coming," the CEO and co-founder of Niftys.com, Jeff Marsilio, said about the project. Marsilio continued:

"Our teams have diligently worked together to create an interactive collecting experience for Game of Thrones fans to continue their journey and live within the popular series. We are thrilled to introduce more fans into the digital collectibles and Web3 industry."

GoT Fans Critical of Character Design

On social media, people have complained about the new "Game of Thrones" NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), and some said they were "poorly drawn." Others commented on the artist’s drawing of the GoT characters’ hands. The fingers are too long and look like salad tongs. Some people called the Game of Thrones characters’ hands "salad fingers" on Twitter.

According to cryptoslam.io statistics, during the last 24 hours, Solana’s NFT collection BONKZ was the top-selling collection on January 11, 2023, and the GoT NFT collection of Hero Boxes is placed 13th in terms of sales. The GoT NFT collection was USD 506,673 in 24-hour sales volume, with 2,894 transactions and 991 buyers.
