DOJ Targets Former FTX Chief's Luxury Jets in Ongoing Criminal Probe

In the ongoing criminal probe surrounding the former co-founder and CEO of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, federal prosecutors have set their sights on seizing two luxury jets owned by the former FTX chief. Specifically, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is pursuing the forfeiture of a Bombardier Global 5000 BD-700-1A11 and an Embraer Legacy 135BJ.

Prosecutors Aiming to Confiscate Bankman-Fried’s Luxury Jets

In a recent development on the evening of October 4, the DOJ laid out its intentions to claim possession of these high-end aircraft from Bankman-Fried, co-founder and former CEO of FTX. The court order specifies that these jets are linked to multiple charges, particularly counts 1-4 and 7, detailed in the federal indictment.

Alongside the Bombardier and Embraer jets, the DOJ is also eager to secure their associated maintenance and engine logs. This move follows earlier reports, post-FTX's downfall, suggesting that Bankman-Fried's aircraft had been frequently traveling between the Bahamas and Argentina.

Contrary to these claims, Bankman-Fried firmly asserted that he had never left the Bahamas. Adding a layer of complexity to the narrative, there were whispers that FTX's private jets were repurposed to transport Amazon packages to top-tier FTX personnel due to Amazon's refusal to deliver to the Bahamas. In a related twist, Ryan Salame, FTX's former co-CEO, reportedly had to part with his private jet as part of his plea negotiations.

What are your thoughts on Sam Bankman-Fried potentially losing his jets in the forfeiture proceedings? We invite you to share your opinions and insights on this matter in the comments section below.
