Metamask and Blockaid Team Up to Boost Web3 Security with Alerts
The self-custody Web3 platform Metamask from Consensys has teamed up with Blockaid, a leading Web3 security provider, to boost security in the Web3 ecosystem. The partnership will integrate security alerts within the Metamask extension to enhance the platform’s security features.
Metamask and Blockaid Collaboration Enhances Web3 Security
Metamask and Blockaid have teamed up to detect and stop malicious transactions, scams, phishing attempts, and hacking. The partnership between Metamask and Blockaid has reportedly averted a major security breach and has successfully ensured the safety of assets worth more than USD 100,000. This includes preventing an attempted hack on an account linked to the Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin.
The security alerts are the latest development in Metamask and Blockaid's joint mission to enhance the security of Web3 platforms. The partnership between the two companies has introduced a privacy-preserving module that allows transactions without users having to divulge their data to third parties. This enables user privacy and helps to ensure a secure digital environment.
Dan Finlay, one of the co-founders of Metamask, proclaims, "With these native privacy-preserving security alerts, Metamask is not only enhancing user safety but also setting a new standard for privacy-preserving security in the Web3 ecosystem."
Default Security Alerts Feature to Reduce Financial Losses
In April, Blockaid and Metamask introduced customized security alerts for Opensea, successfully repelling attempted attacks valued at USD 500 million. Both companies are optimistic after the successful feat that when these security alerts become the default feature in Metamask wallets, they will contribute significantly to reducing potential financial losses.
The alert system that has emerged is a response to Metamask's launch of a new crypto-to-fiat feature, which is now accessible in the US, UK, and European markets. Desktop users have had the privilege to enable the alert feature in the Metamask experimental settings since Tuesday.
Plans are in place to introduce the feature on the Metamask mobile app later in November 2023. By the first quarter of 2024, the feature is expected to seamlessly integrate into the wallet by default, making it accessible to all Metamask users.
