Binance Signs MOU with Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology
Global digital asset exchange Binance has signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) to help Georgia in the development of the crypto industry by launching educational and blockchain programs. The global crypto exchange has been expanding its footprint in the region with similar projects in other countries.
Binance and GITA to Jointly Develop the Crypto Industry of Georgia
The global cryptocurrency
exchange, Binance, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with
Georgia’s Agency for Innovation and Technology (GITA).
Binance and GITA will collaborate on the implementation of educational programs
on blockchain technology to further the development of the crypto industry in Georgia.
The agreement follows the meeting between
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in November.
The cooperation will cover projects by both Binance Academy and Binance
Charity, and organizing the local events and hackathons by BNB Сhain, as outlined in the press release.
"Our goals are in line with the
Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology’s goals, and together, we can
create an effective system in Georgia whereby innovation and technology can be
developed," Binance’s Regional Director Vladimir Smerkis stated. He also
said:
"For a long time, we have seen a
huge interest in the cryptocurrency market and, in particular, in crypto
education in Georgia. I want to separately emphasize that Georgia is one of the
most innovation-driven countries in the region."
GITA Chairman Avtandil Kasradze
outlined that the blockchain hackathons and workshops will be held in Georgia’s
tech parks and will facilitate the formation of new startup ideas and the
implementation of projects oriented toward commercialization.
Binance Expands Footprint in Eastern Europe
This is not the first educational
initiative by Binance in the country. Georgia is a crypto-friendly destination
that plans to update its digital
asset regulations and legalize the industry. The global exchange announced the
signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Business and Technology
University (BTU) for blockchain education in January. Binance Academy will
provide educational materials on blockchain technology, Web3, NFTs, and
cryptocurrency to the students of the university.
Binance has been engaged in similar
initiatives in other countries in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region as
part of its expanding presence in the
region. The global crypto exchange launched a blockchain education
program in Kazakhstan in December and offered to help Azerbaijan in
its efforts to adopt crypto regulations.
